WORDFLOW - Inside WordFLOW
Authentic writing course I love
I have been working with Kathrin Lake for years. It started in 2018 when I turned to feature film writing. I needed education and guidance. And Kathrin's name was given to me. She has opened new worlds and shown me many ways to develop new talents and my craft. Her patience and her guidance were foundational to me becoming a writer.
Jump forward a few years to April of 2024. Kathrin, along with her writer Michele Hall, start a program called Wordflow and I am invited to be part of the first launch. The format was one hour a day, each weekday for three weeks. The method uses prompts in the form of words, idea or images (my favorite) to stimulate the writing. If the prompt doesn’t work then write as you wish. This offer came to me at exactly the right moment because I was very much in need of a discipline with people I could trust.
I did the May and June courses and then finished the September and October courses. When they offered at the end of the year a fantastic deal on all six I signed up! I have gained so much by doing this program. For weeks, every weekday, I sit for an hour and I focus on my writing. Nothing else. Focusing on my writing using this method is worth two hours of normal writing.
And then, the frosting on the cake is I am surrounded by a group of people who hold the same passion that I do. They are eager to explore their world and the wider world through words. Kathrin and Michele provide the guidance, they provide the cornerstone, sounding boards, whatever metaphor you want to use. They are so eager to have all of us succeed. Inherent within the course sessions is the process of evolving a personal sense of one’s value as a writer. The discussions open minds and hearts and we discover one another in new ways.
I love doing the program. It has been not only a lifesaver, not only a guide to make me a better writer; it is also a place of friendship, learning and safety. Sometimes as writers, we tend to judge what we're writing or we write because we can get caught up in who the audience might be. To have something like Wordflow, where you get a different prompt every day, where you write from your core, from your beliefs and from your passion and then everything else can awaken. Everything else is stimulated and all the other writing that I want to do is fully present to who I am and to what I want to be.
So I thank you, Kathrin and Michele. I hope you know how important you are to the lives of those that you touch. I hope you know how important Wordflow is and what a gift it is. I'm delighted to be a part of your course’s journey and I'm delighted to be a part of your lives. Thank you.
